Surprised Oubre’s floor slap didn’t intimidate Doncic?

Today’s Panel:

First Half

Monologue: We still don’t know what Giannis is yet (And neither does he)

Nobody still doesn’t know what Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to be. At least not yet
Giannis on fire.JPG
Everyone knows the basics: The nearly 7-foot fireball of speed, power and long limbs
There is still so much more to come that it’s almost hard to look at him without also seeing his potential trailing him like a shadow

What if he does develop an outside jumper? What if those spurts of tricky ball handling he’s been starting to show off lately become his actual go to moves?

Giannis and James boxing.JPG
It was a battle of MVP positioning between Antetokounmpo and Harden last night
Harden terminator.JPG
James Harden is already a finished product, an offensive machine operating at the height of it’s powers

Check out this angle that a fan tweeted:

Harden on being hit hard by the ball:

Giannis MVP.JPG
NBA Twitter had jokes with plenty of people suggesting if Giannis couldn’t beat Harden for MVP, he wanted to simply eliminate him dodgeball style

Giannis 20 20 game.JPG

Despite a 20/20 game, there were still moments where that pesky shadow was shown:

Giannis is still growing into his game. And yet also where he has grown to already is so good that it enables his team in so many different ways, it’s enough to be judged on it’s own
Giannis no shadow.JPG
No shadows, no shade, no doubt about it

Does Giannis need to develop outside shot to win MVP?

“Not at all. The numbers are staggering without a three-point shot. Giannis can be best player in the league with a jumper” – Pierce

“For Giannis, the shooting isn’t going to stop him from winning MVP. The problem is: There are other guys out there who are also having fantastic both individual and team years (Kawhi, PG-13 and LeBron). He’s got stiff competition. It won’t because he can’t make a jump shot” – Elhassan

“It doesn’t matter if he has a jumper because the numbers don’t lie” – Pierce

Was Bucks defensive strategy vs Harden effective?

“He might be the most make or miss league guy we have in the league” – Elhassan

“That was the closest thing that I’ve seen to a blueprint. [Eric] Bledsoe did the best job on him” – Pierce

“They did a good job of defending without fouling. He only shot 11 free throws and shot the ball 30 times” – Elhassan

Is Kuzma’s 41 points in 3 quarters a game changer for Lakers?

Kuzma after the game:

“I know I’m a great shooter. My percentages may not reflect that, but I’m always confident in shooting and I am always in the gym just trying to work on it every single day. It paid off”

“It definitely was. The scary thing about it is: If you’re going to make any trade, you’re gonna want Kuzma. It was a great thing for him, but everyone else around the league saw this. He’s going to be a perfect building block for someone down the line” – Pierce

“I still say he’s a streaky shooter. He’s an incredibly crafted scorer. He still has some work to do on the other side of the ball in order to become a complete player” – Elhassan

“If you’re asking me if I would rather have Kuzma or Ingram, if I have LeBron, I rather have Kuzma. The fit together is better. He moves without the ball better” – Elhassan

“This is what I want to see from a young player. I’m not seeing that from Ball or Ingram” – Pierce

January 10, 1992 – Karl Malone with the nasty one handed dunk on Stacey King!

Kyrie: “Celtics team meeting cleared the air”
After the home loss against the Bucks

“They know where they want to be at the end of the year. I’m glad they cleared the air. They’re back playing the way we know that they can play and reach their potential” – Pierce

“They figured out to staggering those minutes so that everyone gets an opportuniuty a chance to shine” – Elhassan

Celtics offense finally living up to its potential?
Scored 135 points, their most in a regulation game since 2004

“Guys are making buckets off of passes. When the ball is moving and were passing, with that talented of an offensive team, they’re so much harder to guard than let’s just watch and play one on one” – Elhassan

“Everybody is going to share the ball, play together and at the end of the day, it’s about winning” – Pierce

January 10, 2011 – MVP, Derrick Rose finishing the nasty one-handed alley-oop vs the Pistons!

Second Half

Pierce: Giannis
“He’s the best player in the Eastern Conference”

Elhassan: Kawhi
“He’s the most complete player. He’s getting the toughest defensive assignment every night and he excels at it”

Elhassan: PG-13
“He’s been tremendous on both ends of the floor. He’s an elite defender”

Pierce: Giannis
“He does everything. He guards every position. He doesn’t get recognized for his defense”

Last player to win MVP and DPOY in the same year: Hakeem Olajuwon in 1994

Pierce: Doncic
“He’s exciting the fans. He’s brought new life to Dallas. They might make the playoffs”

Elhassan: Doncic
“Who else can you pick? He’s going to be the unanimous ROY”

Paul’s team:

Amin’s team:

Better case for All-NBA 1st team: Kawhi or LeBron?

“I’m not putting Kawhi over LeBron right now. Not yet” – Pierce

Better case for All-NBA 1st team: AD or Jokic?

“Jokic. They got the number 1 record in the league, he’s killing it with the triple doubles, he’s the best passing big we have in the league” – Elhassan

Midseason edition of…

Something Nothing or Everything?!
Midseason storylines

Warriors chemistry concerns?
Per Warriors coach Steve Kerr, DeMarcus Cousins will be starter when he returns

Elhassan: Something
“It’s not for this season, it’s for this Warriors dynasty. There’s some real serious issues. They need a team meeting. As far as championship this year, that’s not in jeopardy”

Pierce: Everything
“Warriors have to start from scratch when Boogie returns”

Nuggets in 1st place out West?

Pierce: Something
“I expected them to be a playoff team. They went from nothing, something to almost everything, I don’t know if they’ll finish there at the end of the year”

Elhassan: Everything
“I didn’t think they’d be this good”
Amin is sticking to his prediction that the Nuggets will finish 1st in the West!

Lakers trade rumors?

Elhassan: Something
“If certain trade targets become available, then we’re throwing everything in the kitchen sink”

Pierce: Everything
“The panic button has got to get hit pretty soon here. If not this year, definitely next year. They can’t strike out in these next couple of years”

“LeBron’s window won’t be open forever”

Future of 76ers Big Three?

Pierce: More than Everything
“They mortgaged their future. If Jimmy Butler does not re-sign, this sets the Sixers back 5-6 years”

Elhassan: Something
“This is a lot to do with the other guys on the Sixers, not the Big 3. They don’t have enough shooting to space the floor”
