25 percent.JPG
The question is: How did we get here so fast?
Players.JPG

Drama.JPG
Tyronn Lue got fired, Rondo/CP3 fight and Magic Johnson cursing out and guaranteeing the employment of his head coach, Luke Walton
Wizards.JPG

Rockets.JPG
The Rockets are in 13th place in the Western Conference and have lost 3 straight, despite James Harden scoring 54 points and Eric Gordon scoring 36 points in a loss to the Wizards

Harden/Gordon became the first starting backcourt to score 90 in a game, since 2006…aka: Kobe’s 81 point game (Smush Parker scored 13 points)

Harden Umbrella.JPG
When the slightest breeze comes by, like an injury or a suspension, the Rockets roster can’t handle it
Rockets rookie
Danuel House, who had never practiced with the team, played more than 28 minutes and Rockets rookie, Gary Clark played 19 minutes in a loss to the Wizards
Rockets GM.JPG
Expect Daryl Morey (Rockets GM) to make some moves in the coming months to improve the roster
Rockets time ticking.JPG
A quarter of a way through the season, time is ticking for the Rockets

“As long as you have James Harden, Clint Capela playing at a high level, they have to get CP back healthy, you got to give them the benefit of the doubt. You don’t have to worry about the Rockets right now” – Pierce

“You better start worrying about these guys right now. Something ain’t right. When Trevor Ariza left, this team was going to have problems. And they are having big time problems on the defensive end, We know they can score. Last year, they had a defensive identity. This year, they don’t” – Scott

Have Wizards turned a corner?
Have won 6 of their 10 games; They beat the Rockets, Pelicans and Clippers

IMG_9070.jpg

“They haven’t turned the corner yet. This team, with that adversity, is starting to work their way out of it. They all want the same thing: To win. They have to keep this going” – Scott

“Their record doesn’t match the talent they have. This is a top 4 team in the Eastern Conference? They have two all-stars on their ball club and they’re not performing at the level we all expected. Hopefully this is something that can turn the corner. But they should be way better” – Pierce

Run it Back

Best putback slams of all-time:

Honorable Mention: Kobe on Hakeem!
Didn’t count because Kobe put his left hand on the rim and was called for goaltendingAnimated GIF-downsized_large(109).gif

3) 1999: A.I. on Marcus CambyAnimated GIF-downsized_large(110).gif

2) 2000: KG on Vlade DivacAnimated GIF-downsized_large(111).gif

1) 2012: Blake on Pau GasolAnimated GIF-downsized_large(112).gif

Moving on…

Zach LaVine right to wave off screen late in game?

IMG_9071.jpg

“I don’t mind him waving off the screen because as a scorer, you have a judgement. But I just wish he would have been a little more aggressive. When it comes to down to the end of the game, you may not get shot, but you can make a play for somebody else. He just settled” – Pierce

“He has not been in that situation enough. I would have called timeout when he waved off the first time. He said he didn’t want to be double teamed. That’s telling me he’s a little selfish. He’s having a great year, but he hasn’t earned that right yet” – Scott

Second Half

KD and Klay combine for 78 of 116 points in Warriors win vs Magic | Warriors depth concerns overblown?

Kevon Looney after the game:

“It’s a great luxury that we have KD and Klay making big shots down the stretch. As a role guy, we know that if we do our job on the defensive end and do all the small things, those guys will take us home”

“To say that their depth is not there, I don’t think it’s as good as it could be. When you have those guys that you have missing, it’s almost overblown because of the fact they’re great players. There’s nobody on that bench that can come in and do the things that they do” – Scott

“This depth, all these excuses, the injuries and the inconsistency, when you’re able to put these two caliber players on the court, we can get a win” – Pierce

“Curry is MVP this season” – Pierce

“It increases his (Curry) value, but only if he comes back and lights it up like he did before. But it’s a big if” – Scott

Jazz struggles a product of their schedule?

Jazz Strength of Schedule.JPG

“My problem with them right now is Utah has always been a very good home team and they’re playing like crap at home right now. The schedule has really hurt them” – Scott

“They’re not sneaking up on nobody this year. They’re going to give everybody’s best and have to be ready for it. Expectations now. It gets harder when you get there” – Pierce

Something Nothing or Everything?!

Beal on Wizards: “This is where I want to be” (Via NBA TV)
Beal saying he wants to stay in DC

Pierce: Nothing
“Let’s wait 20 more games”

Scott: Nothing
“I’m gonna take the young fella for his word. He does want to be there. Him and John have a special relationship”

Celtics starting Marcus Smart

Kyrie Quote.JPG

Scott: Something
“He does elevate them on the defensive end because he’s a lockdown defender. He brings that element to the game. It gives them that identity they had last year on the defensive end where they made their name. Last night was evident that it worked”

Pierce: “It gives them a player out there with a defined role. He plays winning basketball”

Klay saying Raptors game “Might be a preview of June”

Klay Quote.JPG

Scott: Something
“You look at the way they’ve been playing, you look at Kawhi (probably the best two-way player in the Eastern Conference), this could possibly be an NBA Finals. I think Golden State is a little bit better than Toronto”

Pierce: “It’s not far off. They’re going to be there, Toronto is going to be there in the end, Boston, Philly. It’s going to be a dog fight in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee, you can’t count them out. It could possibly be a Finals preview with the way Toronto has been playing”

Kicks 2 beat cancer to support the V Foundation

Lakers at Nuggets
More confident in Lakers or Nuggets this season?

Defense.JPG

“Lakers. We got LeBron James and they don’t. It’s very simple” – Scott

“Lakers. You got to go with LeBron. He’s been a sure shot his whole career. You got to trust with what you know” – Pierce

Game of the NightRaptors at Grizzlies

How successful can “Grit ‘N’ Grind 2.0” be in modern game?

Coach Quote.JPG

Grizzlies Pace.JPG

“If they’re playing at the slowest pace, then they have to have a great defense, they have to shoot a high percentage on offense and get to the line. There’s a reason they’re winning so many games” – Pierce

“They got two players that I think are all-stars: Mike Conley, who’s probably the most underrated PG in this league. He controls that tempo. You got Marc Gasol on that low post. They got 1-2 combination on the offensive end that slows everything down, They don’t turn it over, they rebound, they’re just a very good smart basketball team” – Scott

Buzzer Logo
Devin Booker wants superteam to come to him?

Booker quote.JPG

“I don’t know, but that’s very intriguing. [Deandre] Ayton and this kid are going to be all-stars. It’s just a matter of when, not if” – Pierce
